Senior R&D Scientist
Chicago area, IL 60155
Location: Chicago Land Area
Our client, a producer of premium baked snack foods, is looking for a Sr. R&D Scientist to add to their team. This person will be responsible for developing new benchtop concepts with limited supervision as well as commercializing products presented by clients.

Plan and execute product development activities from concept through commercialization
Research and evaluate new ingredients and processes on both the benchtop and at the plant level
Critically analyze data and make recommendations for product and process improvements
Interact with external vendors to source and validate potential ingredients being mindful of cost and time constraints
Work effectively with Manufacturing and Supply Chain during commercialization
Provide recommendation on specifications and quality criteria for new and existing products
Collaborate with both internal and external partners including Procurement, Marketing, Project Management, Sales, Regulatory, Quality and Operations
Function as a technical resource within the organization and for our clients
Simultaneously execute multiple projects with flexibility to redirect efforts based upon shifting demands
Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field
5+ years of product development experience in baked goods category
Working knowledge of ingredient functionality including, fibers, starches, flours, grains, emulsifiers, etc.
Experience with sensory analysis
Spanish speaking a plus but not necessary
