Title: Director of Product Management

Location: Remote

Our client is committed to protecting the safety of the global food supply chain and delivering high value educational and technical programs. They provide food safety inspections, audits, and certifications, food safety and baking education, and research and technical services for the food and beverage, warehouse and distribution, and food packaging industries. The Director of Product Management will lead the company's International's global product and service portfolio development from concept through launch. This position will be responsible for the tactical development of products and services, as well as lead efforts to strategically build out the portfolio based on the demands of customers and the market.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Oversee all stages of global product development including ideation, concept testing, feasibility analysis and market research, product design, pilot testing and launch.

  • Work lock step with marketing and sales to define priorities and establish effective go to market strategies.

  • Utilize consumer research to develop strategy and insight around emerging trends that translate into category vision, concept and product development plans.

  • Plan, prioritize and direct tactical work, while also retaining focus on the "big picture."

  • Align internal business units around the product/service strategy and roadmap, including appropriate stage gate type process.

  • Provide KPIs to measure success or pivot with learnings from feedback loops. Present status updates and new product launches to executive leadership for decisions/approvals.

  • Lead cost/profit modeling and feasibility analysis for potential offerings.

  • Manage suppliers and any other external resources required to meet project milestones.

  • Ensure that operational business units can deliver on the technical requirements of new offerings, resulting in a successful product/service launch.

  • Collaborate with marketing and sales to develop internal training materials, as well as sales materials for external audiences.

  • Represent the company as an industry leader through leadership roles and involvement with key organizations and clients around the world.

  • Oversee the departmental budget, costs, and expenditures.

  • Leads and oversees accreditation efforts.

Competencies/Culture:

  • Possesses 10+ years of experience in a global product development role in the food industry, or a B2B business or service industry.

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, or other relevant master's degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated success with market research and customer insights.

  • Will be able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities, while remaining agile in a fast-paced environment. PMP certification, or equivalent, is strongly preferred.

  • Intimately understands the product development process and is able to proactively resolve obstacles.

  • Has the exceptional ability to bridge departments and enhance cooperative working relationships.

  • Has demonstrated success in recognizing and exploring opportunities to create business value. Important aspects of this trait include the ability to assess audience needs and market trends, while also coordinating team resources to solve problems and deliver on business and brand strategies.

  • Has a continuous improvement mindset; consistently driving to improve and transform people, process and technology to proceed to the next level.

  • Is able to effectively translate and communicate complex ideas up, down and across the organization.

  • Is achievement oriented and has demonstrated high quality management and leadership.

  • Should be equally analytical, strategic and tactical.

  • Is conscientious, flexible and has a 'can do' working style.

  • Is a resourceful self-starter.

  • Possesses strong business and financial acumen.

  • Experience with LEAN concepts; certifications are a definite plus.

  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiating and influencing skills.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.

  • Direct sales experience is also a plus.
