Title:  R&D Manager                                       Location: Rutherford, New Jersey area

Mission:  Our client a seller and producer of plant extracts to the food industry for flavoring, coloring, or preservative purposes is looking for a R&D Manager. Responsibilities will include managing a nutrition team in the USA for USA and Latin American markets and will report to the global director.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Conduct periodic safety and health walk-through inspections of all workplace facilities

  • Develop new products, herbal and botanical extracts, powder and formulations in line with the Nutrition Business Unit strategy

  • Assess current and emerging technologies to identify candidate products for development. to : create new products, as well as improve and expand existing product lines of botanicals

  • Managing & Lead a team of 3 chemists, botanist and technicians, who work on the technical aspects of product development through the investigation, planning, execution, evaluating and reporting on new product / process development, improvement and troubleshooting projects

  • Build and maintain strong communication with the Industrial, Purchasing, Regulatory, Analytical, Quality Assurance and Quality Control departments to ensure scalability, robustness and safety of the products developed

  • Design and execute experiments, and analyze and interpret data to make sound technical recommendations on product and process issues

Background Profile:

  • Master's degree in Science (chemistry or chemical engineering preferred)

  • 5+ years hands-on industrial R&D experience (herbal or nutraceutical or chemical industry strongly preferred)

  • The ability and interest to conduct hands-on work on plant-based ingredients in laboratory and cooperate with pilot plant and manufacturing scale environments

  • Detail oriented individual who can partner with technical departments (QC, QA), production / purchasing and Sales Department

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
