Company

Our client, a distributor of co-packed frozen/canned/dehydrated produce, is looking for a Sr. Business Manager to add to their team. This person will be responsible for targeting retail grocery accounts to boost the overall presence in the grocery channel. This person will also be managing 3 individuals internationally.

Your Role with the Company

  • Identify the future global business opportunities for the company while managing the present business

  • Responsible for assisting the direction of the company's sales, marketing, manufacturing, and overall operations with the objective of increasing sales/market share and maximizing profit while ensuring safety and quality are not compromised

  • Work with President and Board of Directors to develop and implement annual operating plan and capital budget

  • Ensures adequate plans for the development of new business are in place

  • Present business plan(s) for review and approval by the Board and shareholders as appropriate Ongoing reporting to the Board to include but not limited to: providing regular financial reports with sales strategies, detailed analysis of new business opportunities for the company and accounts management reporting

  • Assess needs and opportunities for new products through research and feasibility analysis

  • Account Management of new and existing client base

  • Ensure detailed economic analysis of sales and costs are performed and that expenses are in line with approved budget

  • Manage P&L budget for business unit as required

  • Evaluate and determine appropriate strategies to grow the company's business, including establishing short and long terms objectives, setting strategic management goals, including the ongoing execution of systematic competitive analysis, proactive tactical market planning, and managing the company's relationship with clients, industry associations and vendors

  • Represent the company externally as a spokesperson at industry conferences and serve, as approved by the board, as company's voice to the public at large

  • Maintain constant contact with customers, vendors, regulatory personnel, and other business professionals

  • Establish appropriate reporting methods to ensure that staff carry out their respective duties

  • Maintain high employee morale and low turnover

  • Manage, coach and train leadership team to accomplish company goals and objectives

  • Ensure compliance with best manufacturing practices by developing and overseeing standard operating procedures throughout all aspects of business

Background Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or related field

  • 5+ years of sales experience in a food or beverage manufacturing/processing environment

  • 2+ years of food service knowledge, bulk/ industrial food sales experience

  • International experience a plus (Japan)

  • Experience managing other sales managers and product managers

  • Experience presenting sales forecasting vs actual activity

  • Progressive experience in leadership, administration, sales planning and execution of marketing/sales programs, with focus on brand positioning and business development

  • Demonstrates strong negotiation skills

  • Bi-lingual (Mandarin, Japanese, etc.) a plus

  • Ability to travel 15-20%
