Manage and oversee a team of internal and third party new product development resources throughout all phases of product development; from initial bench development to commercial launch. Create and maintain timelines for all projects, facilitate collaborative meetings, assign tasks, keep all parties updated on progress against due dates. Manage the formulation of new products and the re-formulation of existing products, but simultaneously consider technical issues such as: food safety, food stability/shelf-life, cost, nutrition, scalability, etc.
Essential Job Functions:
-Be accountable for the planning and formulating of the various aspects of research and development proposals such as objective or purpose of project, timelines, costs of project and equipment resources requirements
-Develop new products for existing customers and modify or improve existing products upon or before the customer's request
-Manage and facilitate various R&D functions and be responsible for coordinating plant support for new product executions into commercialization
-Ensure proper facility and plant R&D testing procedures are followed such as test request, pre-test meetings, test execution, test summary with next steps and product disposition
-Manage department budget as needed
Qualifications & Requirements:
-B.S. or M.S in Food Science or related discipline required, Master degree preferred
-10-15 years' experience in R&D in consumer goods, 5 of which in a supervisory/managerial role
-In-depth knowledge of food science and technology, and experience in product development and commercialization, preferably in salty snacks, nuts or candy
-Ability to manage the formulation, consumer testing, and go to market activities for new products
-Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word and related software.
