General Manager - Logistics
San Bernardino, CA
Our client, a food & beverage warehousing and storage company in the San Bernardino, CA area is looking for a General Manager for their logistics division. This person will be responsible for managing the supply chain operation along with all supply chain personnel.
Your role with the Company
Manage Logistics Management and Transportation operations that are responsible for moving perishables, frozen, dry and liquid goods to our stores both regionally and across the USA using all modes of transportation
Ensure customer/vendor / carrier contract requirements are administered, enforced and maintained
Must manage budgets for all operations to include cost controls
Seek out innovative processes that utilize the talent of our people and create efficiency and world class customer service
Utilize information technology to determine trends, opportunities, savings and efficiency
Ensure all sites operates to the routines outlined in the site interaction matrix and standard operating procedures
Establish relationships both externally and internally that bring real value to the operations and those we serve
Provide leadership in product quality assurance relative to all aspects of transporting freight
Critically analyze the operations current transportation processes, comparing on-time KPI's for all store deliveries and non-store deliveries. Analyze and provide recommendations for improvement
Take an active leadership role in succession planning and staff retention
Communicate, administer and enforce state and company policies (i.e., accounting, operational, regulatory, and administrative)
Ensure all documentation and reports are processed in a timely manner and accurately
Ensure the carrier performance meets the customer expectations and all agreements
Negotiate terms and rates for shippers and carriers required to move cargo in the absence of carrier contracts or system
Will evaluate and measure employee performance and help develop their skills
Will provide optimum customer service and lead by example in all aspects of Manager job responsibilities
Will create a positive environment for employees to help maintain morale
Will participate in meetings and will be expected to work weekends, holidays, long hours when needed
Step in when necessary in the absence of key individuals in the logistics operations to keep operations running
On call 24/7 for emergencies, staffing concerns, etc.
Bachelor's in Business or related field
Knowledge of contracts
5 years' experience managing a transportation team, specializing in trucking operations & logistics, refrigerated , van, inter modal
5 years' experience working in an environment that utilizes 3rd party carriers
Experience with on-call response coverage including after-hours and weekends
Computer System Skills:
Experience working with a TMS (Transportation Management System), preferably Truck Mate, PC Miler, Fleetmatics, RoadNet.
Understanding of DOT regulations
