Company

Our client, a grocery home delivery company, is looking for a CTO to add to their team. This person will be responsible for managing all information technology including applications developments, open systems platforms, local and wide area networks, operating systems installation and support, data security and communications.

Your role with the Company

Develop and coordinate administrative functions including capital and expense budgets, hardware acquisitions and vendor negotiations

Monitor information technology performance and recommend continual improvements

Ensure a robust security and disaster recovery program for the company

Build and lead a high performing IT team

Supervise software testing, and information systems security and maintenance

Propose new and emerging technologies to support the necessary changes required to reach the company's business goals, needs, and objectives

Work with technology vendors to ensure business requirements are understood and translated for optimal technical solutions for the company

Server Side

These responsibilities relate to tasks and code written and executed on the server before the data is sent to the client's device

Maintain existing code base

Add improvements to the existing code to improve execution time and maintainability

Develop using object oriented methods; Migrate any old procedural methods to object oriented

Promptly fix bugs when they're found

Client Side

These responsibilities relate to the code and design of the site that the users and customers see

Create a unified design through the use of an HTML/CSS framework

Ensure the user interface is designed to easily drive customers towards purchasing

Ensure that employee workflow is smooth

Improve the UI when requests are made by team to improve their workflow

Fix any bugs that occur in the client side display or execution of code

Ensure the UI/UX is effective on mobile devices as well

Database

These responsibilities relate to the use and execution of code on the database

Use a development database to ensure all test code is executed in a safe environment

Ensure code is written to safely add and remove data from the database

Ensure database tables are designed and indexed to provide fast execution

Ensure the database is kept secure from intrusion

General

These responsibilities relate to the general use of software and execution of the job

Keep coding software up-to-date

Use git for version control and a history of changes made to the code

Use git branches to make major changes to the code for easy reversibility

Be able to navigate around a *-NIX environment to execute the occasional task on the server

Be aware of emerging trends and technologies that may improve the speed and execution of the job

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position specifically manages three full-time direct reports. This position oversees the day to day activities, including leading departmental staff meetings, providing guidance, mentoring, and a path for growth within the IT team.

Background Profile

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, Master's preferred

Expert knowledge of infrastructure, server and client products within enterprise network environments

Advanced knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in systems administration and support

Advanced knowledge of related hardware and software

Comprehensive knowledge of both information technology and business issues

Comprehensive knowledge and awareness of current information technology products, services, and solutions

Exceptional communication and customer service skills

Practical experience troubleshooting operating system performance problems

Ability to manage challenging technical issues by setting customer expectations, devising and implementing action plans and professionally communicating to all parties involved

Knowledge of Advanced Group Policy Management and Organizational Unit Structure

Ability to work under deadline pressures
